So I have a slim PS2 and I’m wanting to play PSX backups. I have swap magic 3.8 and a USB drive to run ULaunchELF. Do I just have to do the swap trick with any PSX retail game and I’m all good to go?
Yes, or alternatively you can install a PS1 chip in your console (a 4-wire job without the side effects of PS2 chips), or try PopsLoader via USB/SMB/PS2NetBox (although discs are still the leading choice for compatibility)
