Hardware PSP's analog button

just got a second-hand psp
and if i hold the analog nub on it's edges with two fingers then
i can slightly rotate it in it's place.
is this normal?

Just checked on my 1000 and go.

The 1000 I can definitely rotate it a little bit if I try (10 degrees or so).
The go I think its rotating a tiny bit, but hard to tell as its recessed and pretty small.
