Hardware PSP Battery Reading Problems

So I will put the more important info first, and everything down below

Second new Battery I try (Tectra) it charges (orange light) for 5 minutes while the console is turned on or off. But randomly the light stops and to turn the console back on I have to unplug and plug back the DC. When this happens with it turned on, the green light appears for a split second.

The battery icon appears and disappears (with full 3 bars). On Battery Information it only shows "Power Source External" even thought it is charging.

The console only works with the DC plugged, CMOS is dead (initial setup), charger is the og one, never opened the console, and was taken good care.

Already tried putting a piece of paper on the battery foot, and other lots of random tricks that seems stupid, but as we know technology sometimes works this way lol.

This is probably your problem, I solved the same case on my PSP 3000 by removing the SuperCapacitor and cleaning the board with Isopropyl Alcohol, as it leaks and can cause other problems around the circuit.

That's probably what could solve, but there is a famous guy that does reforms retro portable (retroboybr on insta) and he just told me he is going to start doing those on PSP.

So idk if its worth me opening the console and maybe having some problems, or just send it to the guy and get one better than a brand new one lol.

Aftermarket batteries will not be correctly read by the PSP in most cases due to improper clone boards.

(They don't communicate with the PSP properly.)

Get a different battery.

I recommend Cameron Sino from a legit dealer (there seems to be counterfeits being made?), but other people have had good luck with OSTENT.

Looks like Tectra is a pretty crap battery. I remember reading a few reviews for this and they were not good at all.

Yeah the Ostent are the best ones, but Tectra, wich is the one I got is good too, so it's probably something with the psp really.
