thinkin about gettin a psp and wondering what kind you would recommend. I know you can run homebrew on both etheir through custom firmware or HEN. Id prefer the custom firmware but is the 3000 better as far as hardware or the screen or anything? because if so Id rather get the 3000 and use the HEN loader until they hack it so that cfw can be installed.

The only difference between the PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 is the PSP-3000 has an "advanced" screen and a microphone. Other than that it is the same as the PSP-2000 except for the extra security. I would recommend getting a PSP-2000 but if you want custom firmware you have to make sure you DON'T get a PSP-2000 with a TA-088v3 motherboard as these motherboards have patched the pre-ipl exploit and do not support custom firmware. The most preferable PSP-2000 to get would be a TA-085v1 as they support writting to the battery EEPROM to make a Pandora battery.

You're not going to get a good answer for this on message boards as there's massive disagreement on it. Some say yes and others say no. Personally i'd advise you to actually seem them both in action in a shop before you make up your mind.

Well I have both and in my at first I considered the PSP-2000's screen to be better but I am now starting to get used to the PSP-3000's screen. Also the reason some members would possibly think the PSP-3000 screen is better is partially due to Sony using slightly different XMB wave colours on the 3000. I would really recommend a non TA-088v3 PSP-2000 because if you get a PSP-3000 or a TA-088v3 and brick the thing there is no way to recover it without the help of Sony. Also the PSP-3000 and TA-088v3 will likely be doomed to live on the 5.03 firmware for quite some time until another user mode and kernel mode exploit is found or the pre-ipl is cracked. In which case the pre-ipl being cracked will only benefit TA-088v3 PSP users not PSP-3000 users.

I was told by a GameCrazy employee that it's the latest firmware that blurrs the graphics, not the screen. So I'd go with a 2000.

LOL. The employee that told you that the PSP-3000 screen was because of firmware is an idiot. It is a hardware problem described by Sony as a 'feature' and cannot be fixed with a firmware update.

The PSP 3000 screen is undoubtedly better outside at dealing with glare though.
