I read the FAQ on here about the PSP and it seemed to say that the PSP 3000 cannot be hacked (Or atleast not with the pandora method). And then I was googleing around and I found that there are some obscure methods for hacking the PSP3000, and that there are other methods that do not include the Pandora battery. So my questions are;

1) Can the PSP-3000 be hacked at all?
a) How many of the firmwares can be hacked? (If any)
2) Does all the hacking have to be done with the Pandora Battery?
b) If not what does the other method require? (Other then things found in the box with the PSP)
3) Would hacking a PSP-3000 without any Pandora method (If it can even be used) be too risky?

I'm asking these questions both because I am curious about the PSP and because my friend's brother would like for me to try and hack his PSP. I'm willing to do the job (And I really don't know why they insist on asking me to do it >__> I just read instructions online), but I dont want to brick the PSP. That would suck for way more reasons then just the loss of money.

Thanks for even bothering to read this.

1) Somewhat but its a partial hack.
a) Only 5.03 can be used for this partial hack.
2) Nope
b) You launch ChickHen (homebrew enabler) then launch a cfw enabler.
3) You can't even use a pandora battery with a 3000. It doesn't really have a high risk of bricking with the ChickHen method anyways.

Thanks for the info!
So is there anyway of downgrading from 6.00 to 5.03? (I have to ask, but I seriously doubt that that can be done >____>)

I cant believe he got a BRAND NEW PSP and expected it to be easily hack. D: I wish he would have gotten a used one.

Nope you can't downgrade a 3000.

Not yet anyway. It might be possible to use the kernel exploit from the 6.10 HEN release to make a downgrader though it might not work on any firmware higher than 6.10. Whether it works on 6.20 or higher would depend on if Sony patched the kernel exploit, not just the game exploit.

The 6.10 HEN exploit was a save game exploit which was patched in 6.20 and the game's required firmware has been upped to 6.20 so no HEN exploit for anyone above 5.03
