Here to report back! I tried out the replacement switch but the PSP still failed to start up. I gave up and went to get it repaired. Turns out that the problem was the grey ribbon cable. I got it replaced and everything works fine now. Hope that this information is of use to others who may be suffering from a similar problem! And once again, thanks to everybody who helped out! ^^
