some iphone/ipod touch models (the older ones) already had a linux port, this does not emulate anything. it is a psfreedom port for those iphones/iptouches that can run linux

Yes you need an older iPhone that already has the capabilities to run Linux on it. Though realistically, it's on par with all the Android PSGroove releases that require you to boot into custom roms and such to get it to work. But it's not for the faint of heart.

The tar.gz from the developer only has binaries for the iPod Touch. So you need to compile the binaries for the iPhone on your own. Proceed at your own peril!

Oh and the backup manager doesn't work with this build. So don't get too excited.

Backup Manager may not be working, but has anyone managed to install ANY pkg file yet, such as the FTP server?

Edit: I had to unplug my ipod touch 1g from the ps3 to get my stupid usb stick to show up. Woo! FTP! This is so cool. :3

Looks simple enough, though some may not want to mess around with the bootloader
