Whether you are installing a hardmod, or replacing a bad part. The struggle is real when it comes to wanting to test whether or not what you've done works. I suggest just putting the back cover back on before attaching the battery, but if you intend on attaching the battery with the back plate off, make sure it is faced the right way. Placing it the wrong way reverses power, and blows fuses in both the power board and motherboard. Such a simple mistake can cause a huge headache for those who are not experienced with electronic repair.

With that said, you should seek experienced help to service your system anyway, but some can't afford parts and labor, and will attempt it themselves.

So on the N3ds it's not like on the o3ds Xl where there's only one direction the battery can be put in...

its just as you say (impossible to install the battery backwards) the problem here is . . .
he attempted to attach the battery while the console was disassembled

I don't understand...I took the backplate off my o3ds Xl to change the battery and was afraid to insert the new one wrong but I noticed there was only one way the battery would fit in anyway...and I just had to put the new one facing the same way as the previous one...

Is it harder on a new3ds ?

Isn't the back plate the part with the serial code? Because if it is we have to take it off to change the battery...

and I thought the only downside for new 3DS systems was the lack of a SD slot access (I know you can remove the coverplate but thats far from ideal.)

I think this only applies to hardware mods for the entire system for 3ds, not just replacing the battery.

What you did was just replace the battery, that is simple and not much of a threat. It doesn't require technical knowledge as it simply instructed and easy. Hard modders do other modifications to systems that could also mean relocating things on the circut board as well as forgetting things where it should go and belong and misplacing things incorrectly when rebuilding the system. Don't worry about this okay? what you did was fine and safe. :)

he does not mean the plate he means the shell he says

so he had no case on the console at all (just there bare motherboard)

So when I got my shell changed at a 3ds repair store they could have put the battery the wrong way...unless they waited until they had finished to put it back...-_-'

Well your system is working is it not? If it is, then is not really a concern unless you plan to get a hard mod later. :D

You can kindly remind them of this and take care of the system during the process. :)

No hardmod unless I brick...wondering If I should spend quite a bit of money for a Mugen battery or just order an official one from Nintendo...

I just want at least 6 hours of autonomy...

You could buy a usb 3ds charger and a portable battery charger as well. That mugen battery does look promising but the price and the fact it protrudes out the system a bit more intended that they include replacable backplate is kinda silly. Sure you probably get like 24 hour straight battery life but the pm i sent you on how to save and reduce battery consumption should help for the most part on standard Offical nintendo batteries. It all depends on the user to be honest.

So Is really a preference thing :)

If you are paying attention you can tell what way the battery goes in and hold it against the contacts the correct way. but if you are not paying attention when you start pushing the battery against the contacts its easy to have it flipped the wrong way and blow fusses.
