PS5 8TB Limit?

Hi guys,

Just curious, does anyone know if the 8TB limit of external hard drives is one that can be increased with later PS5 update patches, or is it a hard limit imposed by the actual hardware?

I thought I had done enough research when I bought a Seagate 8TB USB Hub (for Xbox but that’s just branding), but upon connecting it to my PS5 learned that I was wrong lol. 8.1TB on the screen and the PS5 rejected it.

Any ideas on whether I’ve got a chance of hooking it up later if Sony releases a patch?

What happens if you partition it to just under 8TB?

Also, maybe it's the USB Hub part that is causing the issues?

Sadly another guy tried partitioning it and got no joy. I think I agree with you on the USB hub part. Sony won’t allow those to work with the PS5 at this stage I’m pretty sure. Thanks for answering, just a bummer when it’s an expensive piece of kit that I would have thought could be friends with a PS5! God willing it’s something that can be patched out someday??
