Hacking PS4 Spoofing Serial Number?

Hey, I have come across a ps4 that has a white led and won't display anything on the screen. It was intended to be thrown out and I feel like that's a waste because I believe the fix is to re-flash the ps4.

My concern is that if I flash it, I don't want to be using what may be considered a stolen ps4 because I don't have specific permission to use it by the owner.

So I figured if I could change the serial number and mac address, I could potentially just use it like normal. Or at least normal-ish.

I've never done anything with a ps4 before but I have experience doing this kind of stuff on computers so surely it's a thing on ps4s.

Hold down power button see if you can get it into safe mode
If not it's possible it's a bad hdmi socket at a guess

Not going to lie, this sounds extremely sus. If it was thrown out for being defective, why would you be concerned about theft?
Anyways, changing the serial number will do nothing. Changing the MAC will do nothing AFAIK. When it goes online, if it can, it'll contact with some system information. You'll need to change virtually everything, eg buying a new PS4.

You may want to do what Prb suggests and try to get into safe mode to even see if it works properly.
