Is there any way

1) to remove the 4.73 update process to go back to 4.55 or failing that

2) to get 4.73 to install (update pup link as sony doesnt have it anymore)

I have another jailbroken 4.55 so i could swap the drives if that would help

thanks

So your console is on 4.55? But its trying to update to 4.73?

If you dont care about the contents: Can you fromat the HDD and reinstall the recovery pup for 4.55?

Swapping the hdd to the 4.55 one would force you to format anyway....

No the PS4 using specific partition for the PS4 HDD, you need to use the 800MB 4.55 Recovery Update to see if you can install the 4.55, if the system was already on 4.73 before the loop problem, then you cant go back.

ive just bought it and he said it was on 4.55 . its asking for a 4.73 or later update on usb, i can try and find a 4.55 update. wouldnt a format work too?

If it asks for 4.73 then current lowest system firmware it can take is 4.73 not 4.55, return it.

Go to safe/recovery, format option 6, bootit up and see what it says.

Cant hurt.

If it somehow ditches the nag, reinstall the recovery pup Via option 7.

Its a long shot, sounds like you got ripped.

i got it for a really low price, so i'll keep it 4.73 if i have to. any reason why formatting the HDD wouldnt work?

When the PS4 install the System Software using the update it creates a bunch of partition on the HDD. In addition the PS4 encrypt the HDD to that PS4 only, so you cant use it on another PS4. You cant do that and install the PS4 software on a PC anyway. Depends on how much you pay, if you pay anywhere near 250 to 300 then return it.

paid less than 90. But if i completely wipe the HDD externally, all partitions, then wouldnt it start from scratch with the current firmware?

Just make sure the PS4 isn't ban from online play if you plan to use it for online use, There is a 5.0x exploit in private right now, but since you have 4.55 PS4 already, doubt it is worth of keeping this one offline, Like what KiiWii said , use option 6.

format 6 doesnt help, probably doesnt touch the update information on another partition - which i'd like to wipe. 4.55 reinstall doesnt take.

Lookup PS4 4.73 Recovery Update, size is 876MB and

14eb6e5b1100e8edca028f6c4a90712a is the MD5

Yup youre screwed, 4.73 rec is your best option right now if you want to atleast keep it low.
