PS4 gets kernel level access on FW 4.06

The PlayStation Vita isn't the only system that has scene news today, as a user named qwertyoruiop has done something huge with the PlayStation 4. On official firmware 4.06 he managed to get Kernel access through an exploit. Established PS4 hacker "Cturt" also tweeted out the following:

The web exploit is claimed to work on 4.xx firmwares, a huge advance compared to the previous exploited firmware, 1.76. There is no guarantee of a CFW or backup loader at this point in time, but it is still a huge breakthrough in the PS4 homebrew scene.

lol people all hyped up because of piracy! It won't come until SAMU has been cracked down

We don't have to crack SAMU. Thing is, SAMU encrypts and decrypts whatever you need if you have kernel level code execution. Which by the looks of it, we have. It doesn't give away any keys (and doesn't look like it will anytime soon), but actually does the work if asked politely.

I'll have to say though, SAMU doesn't really mean nothing to piracy (I'd be surprised if the SAMU were compromised by a bug on it). Sure you could have game's files and savedata but meh. RE of title installation is they key IMHO.

Brandnew PS4 Pro come with 4.07.
I learned that the hard way.

EDIT: 4.07. Not 4.50. My mistake.

My PS4 Pro came with 3.70fw, guess new batches of PS4 Pro now has 4.07..

Get a job you scumbags and pay for your games!

dude, I have a job but I want back-up loaders for preservation of discs, and I want the convenience of having all of your games on the HDD and also having the physical media.

I am a pretentious little twerp and love to waste my money on crap games!
I have a job but I hate the fact that games nowadays cost upwards of £50 on release, a lot of them are £60!! And if the game is crap then you have 2 choices either keep it accept you wasted your money or trade in for a pathetic value because the game is crap.
Sorry but I have a try before I buy policy and as game stores no longer let you do that in store then piracy is the only way.
I miss the good old days where you could buy your game, on a cartridge may I add, and if said game was crap, you could take it back and get a refund!

Might consider grabbing a PS4 Slim with low firmware now, probably gonna just keep there until there's further development in the hacking scene.

Problem is, if Pro is same hackable then normal, since new Hardware, other access stuff. Might be not that easy to break the Pro instead of the "normal" one?

Great thing about having 2 ps4's on v4.50 is that I can constantly update one and let one stay on v4.50. That way I can play online and download free games on PS+ on the updated one. Now I can just transfer my downloaded games from the that to the v4.50 one to play games there.

thaaaaaaanks

piracy is literally the only reason to mod a console these days. who gives a fuck about homebrew, just let me play backups and pirate dlc

Not really, on my ps3 slim I magically could get ps2 games working thanks to cfw. Not to mention emulators are nice, oh and a video player that supports a bunch of codecs the native one doesnt.
