It seems like Sony is having really bad difficulties in this few months. There are so much stuff going on with them that they may delayed some stuff because of all this crazy stuff coming out of nowhere.
Well, a lot of this stuff has existed in private circles, but the average person had no way of using it until the jailbreaking devices became public.

I believed it was a surprise attack for Sony, I didn't know these devices existed before they got released. (I am sure most of us doubted the device when it first came up to public.) It's like in a classroom while your busy on doing other things then suddenly your teacher calls you by surprise and your mind just go blank.. I tell you, it happens.. o.o happened to me.. lol anyway,
Now, I do think they're kinda overwhelmed over these issues..

The only thing that is unfortunate about all these PS3 Jailbreaking, is for those who us who choose not to use it (I want my PS3 online without worring about anything) will end up suffering in the end. Whether from constant patches or people finding a way to cheat online or whatever else may turn up. Over time all people who want to play games will suffer. Eventually all you might see is services like OnLive or if you are not connected to the internet, you don't play or whatever way they find to stop people from pirating. No company has taken these steps, yet. How would you like it, if Sony/MS/Nintendo decided that you get a keycode with every game (aka PC but worse) and once you use it, it is locked to your username. Meaning no online, no play, no trading, no selling used games, no buying used games (which we know they would love that and will use pirating as an excuse to do it). I am not try to preach or tell you not to pirate, cause you are going to do it (if you are on this website, you are guilty of it, why else would you be here). Oh and the biggest "blah, blah, blah", oh goody PS3 is broken, now we can make homebrew, ya, right.

They do this on PC games a lot. The Phantasy Star Universe games needed an internet connection even if playing offline, and Assassin's Creed 2 was infamous for needing internet access to play.

And look at flak they took because of that, they would love to do it but......there is that, if we do........will it affect sales. But if every single game on every platform required this, then what, are people going to stop buying and playing games, no. One game here and there will we boycott because they did that, sure, but not every game. Personally I would rather not see it come to that, internet connections are not 100% and I don't want to depend on my net connection when playing any game (MMos, sure, no choice, Forza3, Modnation, Buzz, i would rather not).

And look how there is no used PC game market, do you really want to see that happen to all games. Imagine oh, I just bought a PS3, Heavenly Sword looks cool, old game but want to try it, hmmmm, out of production, sorry can't play it.

Or worse yet, all our games are streamed to us and the same thing applies, if all games are streamed, we don't have a choice, except not to play.

What bugs me the most and what drove me to comment was I have seen so may comments of "ooooo now i will buy a PS3", so because you could not get free, pirated games for the system, you did not want it, now that you can, you want one - grow up, get a job, contribute to society, more than enough leeches out there.

Correct me if I'm wrong....but the copyright on this SDK leak is 2007, at least in NFO. Thats 3 years old meaning it's not THAT awesome of a leak. version 1.92.
If it was brand new.....different story.

Xbox brew has been coded w/ all outdated leaked SDK's. I just think a newer SDK would be alot snazzier. Lets talk about move.....you want to code some Move homebrew. Well at this point, you'll have to develop your own libraries/toolchain or wait for another leak that *includes* those libraries. IDK, maybe this leak already includes the move stuff, as developers need that stuff way in advance of release. but you get the point. However, look at Wii.....the free and legal toolchain is very very impressive and alot has been done with it.

I guess its really supply and demand. I am going to make a prediction!!!! Quality of homebrew as follows: Wii/PS3 > Xbox360. Simply because Wii and PS3 will produce more demand and access as to an easier exploit. Maybe I'm totally off....but we'll see. Whatever happens I hope this scene really takes off....talking XBMC ported, Dreamcast, PSX2, N64, and hell maybe even Gamecube. Some awesome homebrew FPS online shooter....IDK. I hope this turns out well.
and damnit...lets put the stuff back that Sony took out.

There are more 360s than PS3s in the English speaking (natively) world.

Wii will always be on top here because, you're right, supply. Wiis are easy to hack, and have been hacked for years now, not to mention it's the second-most top-selling home console of all time recorded by modern humans as far as we know.

@Kithkarnon there isn't just piracy here , there is a lot more then that. Some people really just want homebrew or play old games that been forgotten by the companies.

I can agree that there is some here who truely like the idea of homebrew, but in no shape or form was the PS3 broken for the benefit of PS3 homebrew. Homebrew is a side effect of pirating. Maybe some day a game console maker will actually leave there system open for homebrew. Imagine if you could download simple tools (but no support), make a program and send it in to be approved and signed. Would not stop pirating, but would be cool.

Piracy is a side effect of homebrew. IMO, modchips are a seperate category. Once a console is hacked for homebrew, piracy tools pop up all over the place. Before homebrew exists, you almost always need a modchip for any console to pirate.
