Actually they are turning over a new leaf. What theyre doing is something they havent dont before, see said examples. I never said theyre doing it for teh good of mankind to save the world and end hunger and have cure for AIDS. They still do it for a reason ofcourse but atleast at this point in time we, the people, have a chance to reap teh benefits.
What they get out of it? A good name and nothing is more important then a good name in this multibillion industry
Is this turning over a new leaf? YES IT IS.. if this isnt explain to me how they should be turning over a new leaf.. give away everything for free?

Offering him a job or reaching out to him is sorta moot. I think a better incentive would be to develop a bug hunter bounty. Thus people who like hacking their phones could be financially rewarded for doing so, and disclosing those vulnerabilties to MS first in exchange for the bounty.

Though I think Geohotz falls under the 'ego is too big' category. The fail0verflow team more falls into the 'hacking for the fun/sake of it' kind of thing. I think in these cases monetary bounties or job offers really won't work.

Chevron has officially been pulled, and I thought that the piracy thing wasn't released yet? Anyway, there's updates. He can help them make those more secure. Anyway, they never offered him a job, just a free phone.

He later discovered the Limera1n bootrom exploit, which led to Limera1n (made by him) and permanent jailbreaking to all current device (tethered). He then posted the PS3's keys and created a method to sign PS3 ELFs.
He may be arrogant, but he's good. He's earned his fame.

He didn't find the crash used in Blacksn0w.

Posting the PS3 keys was literally useless. Most people who actually knew what to do with hem could retrieve them on their own or knew who to ask for them. All that the keys did was get his sued. Unlike most people suggest, posting the keys didn't really add anything to the community, except, possible slowing down the next PS3/PSN update.

I think this is to try and get him to add stuff to it that the phone normally can't do. Just like how he allowed video recording on the iPhone even though it wasn't even available on the phone.
