yea I don't have a chip on it
so whats the swap trick and what do i need for that?

This exists for quite some time now. But if the disc is spinning while you have to swap the disc, this method is totally out of question for me, even i it would really cost nothing. The lasers die soon enough without any messing, this will only reduce the lifetime further.

qq, is USBeXtreme the best loader for slim ps2s? Hows the compatibility? Getting out my slim from the basement and the lens isn't that swell anymore.

But you have to compile yourself or find the (totally outdated) public test version. In exchange it plays a lot of games, maybe more than USBeXtreme. But the best feature for you would be network loading, as that's much faster than loading from usb.

What were the slimline models that aren't compatible with FMCB/Softmod?

EDIT: Is the model suitable SCPH 75004 [PAL] suitable for the Agent Under Fire/From Russia With Love swap disc FMCB install?

The 90xxx series Slimline PS2's with the new BIOS won't work with FMCB.

And yes it should be.

Okay, so yesterday I got a PS2 and an AR Max Evo for my birthday.
Originally I asked for the used PS2 they sold for 30€ at the nearest GameStop.
Turned out that one was defective, so my friends bought me a new one. The box says SCPH-90004 CB, so I guess Free McBoot is out of the question here. Not that it would've been possible to install it anyway, since the AR didn't display the Max Media Player.

What am I to do now?

Modchip david.

Well... not to be ironical but that sounds about what you CAN do...

I borrowed non-platinum 007: From Russia With Love (PAL) to copy and swap it to boot uLaunch. But there's no NFS demo on the disc. You're supposed to replace the NFS demo elf file with uLaunch.elf and swap it to boot it.

So FRWL without the demo (and thus NFS.elf) is pretty useless? So I have to look for an other game to boot uLaunch?
