Thanks for the help, so with he soft mod I have to rip it into my computer and patch and reburn back to empty DVD? or it works fine with the JP disk?

AR Max Evo is ideally what you're looking for...you need the PS2 USB support for installation.

xist is right, you should try to get something with USB support.

You could always do the independence exploit. This is how'd you do it:

1. Run the independence exploit software and burn it to a disk.
2. Start up your cheat disk.
3. Put in a REAL game.
4. Right before you start the game, swap the real game (with a swap magic tool, you can make your own) for your independence exploit disk.
5. Install it.
6. Put your installer files for FreeMcBoot on a USB stick.
7. Run uLE with the independence exploit you've done.
8. Run the FreeMcBoot installer.

Very interested in doing this a.s.a.p. . Their are a ton of Japanese games that I never got to play since I own an NTSC ps2. Will this softmod allow me to play them? I've decided to go with purchasing an Action Replay Max. Question, I know you guys said to purchase Action Replay Max "EVO" but I can't find it anywhere. Will any Action Replay Max do?

i found it cheaper to get swapmagic and use that to install this because swapmagic is only $20 but those cheat disc i could only find for $50

swap magic was made to play imports but you can use it to play all your backups with a
"swap technique" but you can use it to install free mc boot too thats what i did but now looking into getting a network adaptor for my fat ps2 because my slim and fat lasers are going bad and i can't get usbextreme to work

After looking at the Swap Magic thingy looks like i'm gonna have to wait a few days to get it. I think i'd rather spend the money on AR Max. I guess back to my original question, will any AR Max do?

PS2 slim - must be able to use a USB drive

SwapMagic's suck. You say you can get one for $20USA? I got my AR used for just $4.20USA.

I've been searching on ebay for AR Max EVO edition but they all look the same without saying "EVO" on them. How do I tell whether or not i'm getting the right one that includes Max Media Player?

heh I just got done purchasing AR Max EVO with Max Media Player. So as far as burning the games go, I need to ESR patch them, use DVD-R verbatims, and burn at 2.4x right?



My main reason for wanting to play back-ups is so I can play alot of NTSC-J games that never came to the states and was wondering will I have any troubles playing them?

everything works up to the esr splash screen but then I get a black screen. I patched the iso before burning. I use iso magic to burn but the lowest speed I can burn at is 15x. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

I used to have swap magic but the disk started to crack from the middle out and it is almost to the data areas, thats why this soft mod will be better if I can get it to work.

Ok I used imgburn this time at 2.4x speed. right after the esr 9b splash screen the screen goes black. is there something else I can try?

Im using maxell dvd+rw discs should I switch to the verbatim ones?
