So I have a PS2 SCPH-90001 0A and I want to softmod it to play backup games, but I heard you can't install Free Mcboot onto the 0A models, so I was wondering, can you not install it through the 0A system or will the 0A system not run Free Mcboot? Could I use a memory card with Free Mcboot already installed bought off ebay and would I be able to play games?

0A are not softmod-able with a pre-modified memory card. You can use buy a swap magic disc and possibly use it to boot ESR to avoid swapping disc.
Other than that, you can install a modchip.
FMB Memory card cannot run on date code 9c (third quarter of 2009) and higher. You may be able to install it on 9c or higher though.
