so I got a ps2 fat for a dirt cheap, but the thing is I have never seen moded ps2 and dont know how to load games to usb.

ps boots up and displays Matrix logo, then it shows 4 exclamation marks.

can anybody tell me where to start and what should I do to get games on usb flash drive?

I was google-ing and found something like "you should install OPL" then defragment drive...so I totally confused

Loading games through USB on a PS2 is really not recommended, as it uses usb 1.1 and it's very slow. Since its a ps2 phat model, you should try to find the network adapter and connect an IDE HDD to it and use HD Loader / Open PS2 loader, it can also load from network (samba) and usb if you really want to do that. it's not 100% compatible though, personally i perfer to use dvds and just replace the laser.

here for more info on the loader.

As a PS2 user, I would recommend finding a way to install FreeMCBoot onto a memory card, and look into purchasing a Network Adapter with IDE support so you can load content from a HDD. It's an awesome setup and having super fast loading times is also great. Being able to through a PS2 in a backpack with over 100 pre-installed games on it is a great luxery to have :)

yeah thats really awesome!

|I have bought memory card and now trying to figure out how to install free mcboot or anything, but couldnt find a good guide....

can anyone recommend any guides for this?

hi , you should have tried to buy a memory card with free mcboot already on it , they cost about the same loll,, here u go

so... it seems that my ps had matrix infinity...
I just put opl and some other files that I downloaded after watching this video...and it just lunches opl from usb without any memory cards and anything else.so guess modchip is not only removing copy protection for discs, it just runs anything off usb without hassle...btw I dissasambled my ps2 and there was no dvd drive at all :) the plastic was just glued there :D

just one thing: isnt it to slow to run game backups from Ethernet? as I know now opl have that feature.

It is fast, just make sure you're using a half decent router with Cat5e cables (I don't think the PS2 can take advantage of anything above Cat5 but I could be wrong)
Also some games require patches to be "streamed" through the network. I would still just end up recommending the HDD method but there's lots of convenient options for such a great game console :)

Right now,im running opl from the same usb drive im running games from, but some games doesnt detect memory card at all.not mentioning some games that doesnt run at all, as they freeze on startup... anyone have solution to this memory card issue?

Silent hill 3 is one of them not detecting memory card

Probably weird behaviour from running these over USB would be my guess

I never had issues with USB, though I'm using a USB 3.0 - sata
Still loads faster than dvd
Ide is recommended if you have it there

Where the f am i supposed to get that hacked Memory card. And why the double f would I install mcboot if i already have one existing hacked memory card. Your concept is like this. How to get a pot of gold? Answer is first get a new pot of gold, then you will get another gold in your previous empty pot.

I have a PS2 with Matrix and OPL 1.1.0, and I want to install a theme. I tried installing the theme in the THM folder, but after booting, it still looks the same, and I can't change the theme in the menu (display settings). Can anyone help?
