I just got a ps2 FAT and it has been over a decade since I've last owned one and i have a GARTIE AV to HDMI converter, but when i hook it up to my monitor, nothing shows up?

I'm not sure if it's just incompatible or what, as my sister has managed to get this work with her PS3, maybe there's something in the consoles settings i'm missing?
If it so happens to be the converter itself, is there any that you would suggest i get instead?

I'm not looking for anything fancy just something akin to those WII2HDMI cheap converters that aren't ideal but get the job done and easy on the wallet.

Any amount of help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'd recommend getting a RetroScaler 2x as those actually upscale to 720p / 1080p (RetroTink 2x clone) - but not at the price they are right now ($80). These are usually around $40 on AliExpress (but too bad you can't order from there anymore).

Or you could get an OSSC - which can get quite pricey after having to buy everything required.

Or the defacto - RetroTink 4K, which costs an arm and a leg, 2 kidneys and your firstborn. They don't offer the cheaper 2x version anymore, so you can see why there are cheap clones of it available....

The only other option is to get one of the Electron Shepard adapters once they come back in stock. The problem with the Electron Shepard adapter is that they don't upscale at all.

So that means if a game outputs at 480i or 240p (PS1 games and some PS2 games), you're screwed.

GSM works to force resolutions - kinda. But it can be pretty janky / incompatible with certain games.

If you want a pretty good upscaler mod, get a RetroGem.

There is an okay internal upscaler mod for the slim models, but again, AliExpress...

gonna edit my post with more info that i should've specified that i will mention here as well, but while appreciate the choices here I'm not looking for anything too fancy and if it's something that doesn't upscale at all but provides an image without any visual glitches than that's fine.

like for example i have one of those generic wii2hdmi things that gets the job done but the quality isn't crystal clear but it suffices if that make sense, i apologize if this is nitpicky but it IS my fault for not specifying.

also i have a FAT PS2 if you need the exact model number, i don't have it on hand but i can quickly boot it up and let you know
