Are these licenses filed with a federal agency? If so, considering Xecuters location, the worst I can see happening is the SX distribution server site being moved around like Pirate Bay is. Or being blocked in participating nations by national copyright enforcement agencies. But even that would surely cost a large amount of money and manpower to execute, wouldn't it?
Hardly. According to this article the most they'd need to do is basically give credit, show changes etc.. in other words just comply with GPL.v2 requirements.

It is common sense.
You hire top experts in the field and simultaneously delay release of the competing project. TX will be stupid not to do this.
that presupposes a mole, of which there is no evidence
i can make the same conclusion about anything
"oh i hired justice kennedy to resign to create a kerfuffle about the midterms"
"meteos will be stupid not to do this"
circumlocutious
damn settle down thesaurus man

On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely do you think that is? Keep in mind that A) they've already lied, B) are clearly not on friendly terms with ReSwitched, and C) possibly fear no legal fallout what with being based in China (bonus, they haven't even admitted there is brick code in their OS)

No one that’s part of the reswitched team condones piracy so this logic is false.
Last time I checked doing commercial development was not a crime. And almost everyone from open source community is doing it for the living.
As for the piracy no one is forcing you to use SX OS for it, same with Atmosphere and any other CFW.

I believe the point was that it's not exactly heavily enforced. I could be wrong.

I don't understand why people who didnt work on the code care so much really.

Its pretty scummy profiting on open source work but I ain't going to lose any sleep on this.

i need to break this shit down into bite-sized, debunkable clumps

No, good sir, but violating copyright licenses and selling a product with the result is probably a crime.
>almost everyone from open source community is doing it for the living.
That's patently false. @Reisyukaku for example is an engineer, and does console hacking for a hobby. And even if I give you that, they aren't violating copyright licenses to do it.
>As for the piracy no one is forcing you to use SX OS for it, same with Atmosphere and any other CFW.
That argument is as transparent as greased butcher paper. SX OS' primary use is for piracy, it's Hekate with a backup loader to an end-user. Why would anyone purchase a product without using the one thing it does that's unique?

The only portion of their work that really earnt them profit is the dongle and the backup loader. The rest is free

which there is no evidence
Evidence is on the table.
Two months after full public console hack there is still no free backup loader. The thing that always appears within days if not hours.
You can go with any conspiracy you like but from my experience simplest answer usually is the right. And this answer is MONEY.

Waiting for spawm news to read. Anti-piracy team points out their code was stolen by commercial pirating urly company but "released" a function for everyone can play free games using donor games.

I'm so NOT surprised by this, if there's more evidence. They should have released their modified CFW's source, and not installed any brick-code in it. However as far as I know their backup loader is still their own work, so they can keep that closed sourced and have that have sig checks for their official CFW.
