Gaming Problem with wii remote

I recently sorted out my wii and put it back on after years of it being in a cupboard but now my wii remote keeps losing sync. I will sync it to the wii and then as soon as I launch a game the wii remote will cut out. I've tried different batteries. Any ideas?

Are you launching legit games or homebrew stuff? Also, does it have motion plus?
Also, is it a legit or 3rd party Wii remote?
