Hacking Problem with new sd card

I bought at sandisk microsdxc card today for my switch to prepare it for the upcoming release of atmosphere. But when I insert the sd card into the switch it tells me to update the firmware. Im currently on 3.0.1 in airplane mode and have never been connected to wifi. Will I be able to use it later with atmosphere or should I update?

You are on 3.0.1, there is no point staying on this version, only 3.0.0 has user land hacks.

Stay on 30.1 use Rufus to format your sd to fat32 Don't update your switch if you use Rufus to format that nag goes away .
