ROM Hack Problem with Gateway and mutant mudds super challenge

Hi everybody,
my gateway (3.7.1 ultra, emunand updated on september 2016) works very well with every games I tried. I'm experiencing some problems with the post one, I tried 3DSZE345 and 3DSZE294, both don't start. It's an eshop game. Many other eshop games work fine. 3ds explorer says It's a card1 game. The icon appears in the gateway menu and in the 3ds, if I launch it it just stops at the red 3ds logo. I tried trimming it but doesn't start anyway.
I looked for a compatibility list but Gateway says it's compatible with 100% games.
Is there anything I can do?

Your Gateway isn't running the latest firmware, you may wanna update it to 4.1.

It's possible whatever copy of Mutant Mudds Super Challenge you got is bad, maybe a bad dump or a bad .3DS/.3DZ conversion.
You would probably have a far easier time running freeShop instead, unless there is a specific reason you are running games from your Gateway Red Card?

I use the gateway red card cuz I don't know any better:-) It works, so why change it? Am I missing some big advantage over the gateway?
The freeshop you suggested asks for a custom FW, I am running emunand only, not sure that counts as a CFW.
About the 4.1 update, I would gladly do that but on the gateway website the latest FW I found was the one I have, 4.1 is not available for download, I figured they are still testing it, but I guess from what you say I just did not find the right dl link.
