Hi there

I've a second hand wii that was previously hacked. I don't know what method was used.

It runs successfully usbloader gx and can run wii games from a usb hard drive. The problem is when I try to run gamecube games with nintendont. I get a "failed to load IOS58" error. I've searched for this and found that the solution for this is to upgrade IOS58. I tryed to upgrade with "IOS58 installer" but it fails after downloading the file from Nintendo servers.

The output of syscheck shows that almost all IOS has been patched and with a high revision number

I'm afraid that "ios58 installer" fails because it think that the already installed ios58 is "newer" than downloaded one. (65535>6175)
It seems to me (but can't tell for sure) that the wii was "processed" with "pimp my wii" or some tool like that.

Any recomendation to force installing IOS 58 from Nintendo servers?

Should I try to "restore" all the (unnecesarely) patched IOS?

Thank you and regards.

Hi grcd:

So, do you have the stub version of IOS58?

According to syscheck I have:

IOS58 (rev 65535): Bug Trucha, USB 2.0

and according to IOSsyscheck.log:

IOS58 base hash:
6a 42 9a f5, 1d ef 17 d2, 28 7d 7b 3f, 19 e9 b1 34, 89 1e 8e 20

any idea?

to provide some assistance for anyone wondering what the problem was:
that console had ALL its IOS patched, probably due to using PimpMyWii (please don't!), or very old DARKcorp/CIOSCorp (deprecated).

Now, all homebrew can use official and clean IOS and expect them to be clean. if they are patched they will refuse to work with them because they need to apply their own patches over the official ones.
What you did with modmii simply overwritten all your official IOS to clean ones :)

Note: using IOS58_install does NOT update it. it's actually hardcoded to install a specific version which is not the latest. it can be useful sometime, but don't use the tool in hope it'll update it. you'll end with a downgraded version instead.

I completely agree with Cyan. I supposed that the console was modded with "pimp my wii" (or some similar tool) sometime in the past, and since then it had too much patched IOS, unnecesarily.

Now, after running modmii, Nintendont, HBC, USB Loader GX and many others wotks perfectly. :-)
The only exception is retroarch, that has stability problems. Not sure why is this happening. I have to investigate this further.

Anyway, I run syscheck again, after following the guide generated by modmii and found that still there is some IOSs that are trucha bug patched.

This is the current syscheck output:

Hello. :)

Your sysCheck is fine the only recommended update is

IOS36v3608

This is used by a couple of games like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl

You can use ModMii again for download it (Page 4 of the Downloads).
Install it please with Multi Mod Manager (can also download with ModMii on Download Page 2).

Thank you and good luck.:)

EDIT: Sorry I see it IS actual
IOS36v3608
Then ALL is ok,nothing to do
.:yay:
