I was previously on the inital B9S exploit and decided to try updating to the newer 1.3 version using this as a guide [https://3ds.guide/updating-b9s].

I overwrote the fils as suggested by that page, and after entering the key combination, it boots into the following error "An Error has Occured: Unsupported launcher (argo =0). Press any button to shutdown." With no SD card in the N3DS it doesn't even reach this screen, the power light just turns off again.

I'm really hoping I haven't just bricked my console over an attempt to update! :hateit:

Edit SOLVED!
For anyone who has similar problems, the guide neglected to mention an update of both Luma and GodMode9 was also needed!

Thanks, I'll try and get that in, the guide really should've mentioned that step!

Ok it boots now, the next part of the guide asks me to open GodMode9 but I get an Exception, working on getting the crash dump now.

The guide used to mention that step, I think it is just assuming that not too many people are still on the initial release of B9S anymore.

But yes, your error is just that Luma 7.1 only supports B9S 1.0. Luma 8.0+ supports B9S 1.2+.

No he updated to the latest version. Plus I am on B9S 1.3 on my 3DS and Luma3DS's latest version works fine

You also need to update GodMode9. B9S 1.0 payloads are not supported with B9S 1.2+.

I think they could be. I mean I don't know shit, but I never updated my payloads....maybe I updated them on B9S 1.1-1.2 or something.

Right, I need to update GodMode9 as well then... hopefully that'll be straight forward?
Try skipping that step, see if it boots normally without trying to load any payloads. That step isn't necessary. It just removes things.

Just download the latest version of GodMode9 and put GodMode9.firm in /luma/payloads.

They absolutely aren't compatible. GodMode9, Decrypt9, and Hourglass9 all received updates to work with B9S 1.2.

No reason to skip it, GodMode9 is an invaluable tool to have regardless.

I just found that but thanks for the instructions. :grog:

I am not denying that, I am saying running the SD card clean up script is unnecessary, and he should see if the 3DS boots normally already.

It does as soon as the correct Luma was installed but its best to make sure everything is working correctly!

Thanks guys, everything seems to be running correctly now, will update my system firmware so I can launch Samus Returns! ^_^
