Hacking Probably a noob question but i could use the help

I'm not sure if this is the right area but...I've gotten my wii set-up with the homebrew channel and gotten everything prepared to play from the HDD, but I can't seem to manage to get my HDD to work. I'm running windows 7 and my HDD is a 465.11 gb WD My Passport. I've tried everything but I can't seem to partition it. I'm more than confused and it would seem as if I can only format it to exFAT and NTFS. From what I hear i has to be FAT32. I have no idea what to do. I tried using the WBFS manager and it won't allow me to format it to WBFS. Any help?

Burn puppy linux to a disc and boot it on your pc, then format the drive to fat32 with gparted.

I know that the Western Digital Passport is on the compatibility list, but recently WD changed the model with support for usb 3.0.
I had 2 of those, but never succeeded in getting them to work properly.
As you might know, different programs use different methods to access the wii usb disk.

Homebrew uses usb 2.0 trough ios58 or usb 1.1 trough another ios.
Usb loaders use a cios custom ehci module. Those might differ between Waninkoko and Hermes cios.
Sneek/Uneek uses it's own ehci (usb2.0) module.

I know the WD passport works with some of those methods, but not with others. It's a cheap harddisk, but you only get what you payed for.
On the WD forum, you can read several complains of linux users as well. On windows, the OS keeps requesting for the installation of a driver,
even when you have disabled the password protection.

So, long story short, you will probably need to find yourself another harddisk, and someone should remove that piece of s*** from the compatibility list.
