Im current on the 9.2 firmware I'm obviously not going to be updating my system.. still waiting for gateway to provide the update for my firmware as Im sure a lot of people are waiting for.. simple question though, I am a bit impatient in general.. but would it be unwise to purchase the gateway before they release the update? they usually come through with there word . but thoughts

other than insisting you join the hype thread we have going on, I think it's probably best to have a seller lined up that you will be buying from in advance, and pulling the trigger when you feel comfortable. I believe they will be in really high demand once Omega 3.0 is released, so the sooner you buy the better. It won't be long now, maybe a week or two for them to deliver. MAX 1 month.

I say jump on and pick one up sooner than later, you might regret waiting.

From a discussions on WiikeyU
First rule of acquisition: Once you have their money, you never give it back.
That said, I bought a GW a few weeks ago and put in the back of my sock drawer. :)

I bought it just for connivence sake, when the release does finally come out I can start installing and playing as soon as it comes out rather than waiting for a package.

That said, my patience is running thin now that I do have the actual card but its just a paper weight at this point in time (even less than a paper weight since I doubt it could hold down paper). I'm gonna stick it in a drawer and not look at it.

If you order in the next 30 minutes we will send you not just 1 Gatewait, but 2 Gatewaits for the price of 1 !!! in a variety of colors! Order Now!

Get your 9.0-9.2 console first and foremost. Consoles are in limited quantity, whereas Gateways aren't. Even if you have to pay 10$ more than usual, it's not a big deal.
Valid points but take into consideration the region. There is no lack of supply in the US, XLs can be had for $150 new.

I would just buy one today, even if you can't use it yet, you'll still have it sitting right beside you while you mash F5 on gateway-3ds.com and gbatemp :yay:

Wouldn't it be easier to write a little pyhton script to check for any changes on the page every 5 seconds and email you when it detects one?

Not that I would know anything about that...

I'm expecting Gateways to be rare once omega 3 is released. I learned something from not preordering the GameCube adapter for wii u. Currently have an untouched gateway resting on my desk.

Ditto. I grabbed up a couple Sky3DS too. So I use that now and if it gets blocked, I have the gateways to fall back on. Not sure why all the fanboi-ism about the whole situation. It can only help the consumer to have competition.

In general, it seems like fanboyism is simply about people buying one product and being unable or unwilling to buy the competition's version. It's very rare to see anyone claim a version of a product is objectively better when they can and have bought both. In that scenario, it's far more commonplace to judge them both on their own merits, and it's acceptable to say they like both in different ways and for different reasons.

Even getting past the Gateway/Sky3DS, there's still tons of fanboyism when it comes to Gateway 3DS vs. MT Card. Meanwhile, I haven't heard a complaint about either from the people who can easily afford multiple 4.5 3DS systems and carts for them.

I don't think they will be rare, but the prices might go up.

I got one early, simply because I don't want to wait 2 weeks after Gateway releases the update.

Also it's Hollidays, so if they release the update right now, you will probably not be seeing your gateway for a month (assuming you haven't ordered it already).

I haven't had a chance to try my GW card since we're running 9.2, but as soon as I do, I plan on at least posting what I think are the benefits/detriments of each. At least, IMHO.

And I'll be waiting to read all of the new posts while people find if there are any kinks. Who am I kidding though, I'm sure I'll be popping it into my 3DS just the same as everyone else waiting!

Yeah if I could afford it I would also get both. I'm just really hoping gateway pulls off emunand. You gotta think about the future. Compared to Sky, gateway seemed to be the best for long term support.
