if I buy the 3ds xl with dream team pre-installed, never set up the wifi (thus never access the eshop), and do a system format is the pre-installed game gone for good?

strange question I know but I like to check the screen quality and then format to get the initial setup back if I need to do a return. I rather not screw the next buyer over by permanently deleting the game.

Doesn't matter. Just do it.

All that might happen is that the buyer might just have to make an additional trip back to the store for a return.

I'm sure when you format the system then the game is deleted but you can always go back to your e-shop account you downloaded the game from to redownload the game, if you return the system to the store then the next buyer won't be able to get the game unless they buy either a e-shop card or the actual game cart :(

Well, apparently games are linked to each 3DS' specific eShop ID, so I'm guessing that the game will be deleted.

Why not just go into a store and test the screen quality at a kiosk or something?
