Hacking Powersaves questions

I am looking to get all the ultimate pokemon for XY generation. Apparently these can be modded in with powersaves. Can the powersaves be used with XY roms or do you need a retail version of the target pokemon game. I do have a retail version of Y but was planning on selling it.

Can the powersaves be used with XY roms.

Nope. you plug your retail cart into powersaves device, it mods the savedata online and reinjects it into your cart. Roms work entirely differently.

Powersave cannot be used with ROMs... But you can use PKHex if you load ROMs with a gateway.

Can a save thats been edited via powersaves and retail cartridge be injected into a rom? Seems i would have to keep this version then till next gen is out at least.
