It blinks for about 30s or so and then there doesn't 'seem' to be any further activity. I suppose there could be additional access.

I guess I'll just leave it on and watch TV for a few hours, see if it ever comes back. As I said the NAND works when I use PL under cIOS 249 so it's a UNEEK-DI thing, not a PL thing I'd think.

Ah...you treat your emu-nand rough, isn't it?

Sorry, but you'll have to settle for the limits of your Mistr...the developer.

On-topic: I'm still following this thread with great interest. If only I wasn't so tied up with testing that cDI module, I'd give this one more attention. It'll have to wait, I'm afraid. But still: good job, stfour!

Wever... you were my #1 beta tester

... few hours and b36 will be out with a very very interesting addition (almost, from my point of view) that need to be tested. I hope you will find the time

I imagine that's what the Wii in my avatar would be screaming if it could talk, lol.

@stfour, sorry for my pointless post. Keep up the great work, I still haven't had time to test this out personally, but I hear great things!

XFlak, thank you !

I've lost the count of how many neek nand I have builded with your modmii. And naver thank you for your essential tool !!!

I don't know how I can contribute to your work, but if u ever have questions that fall under my umbrella of expertise feel free to PM anytime.

Testers needed

postLoader2 b36t1

So guys, this is a test version for a new functionality that I need to understand if make sense continue to develop or it is better I stop immediately and focus on other. Even it is simple to setup, I suggest testing of this version to skilled people, that have good experience with neek environment. The purpose of this version is to extend wiiware/vc compatibilty using sneek mode "on demand" directly from real.

So I really need feedback from You !

Code:
postLoader2 b36t1 - Test only version

* microsneek mode - READ READMII.TXT
* Added caching to debugging mode
* Updated readmii.txt

Code:
Microsneek usage guide
========================================

What is microsneek ?
Yes, I love fancy names. Microsneek is just a minimalist sneek installation.
It is controlled and configured by postloader running on real nand.
Titles enabled to boot in microsneek mode (the option is in "IOS: microsneek") will be copied to sd in the appropriate folder and than booted via sneek.
When return to menu from sneek the wii will return to real nand automatically, title's savegames are copied back to keep it in sync. This is done also if you shut down the wii, the next time postLoader on real nand is executed.

Configuration (do not skip any point):
* Use modmii to create a sneek with System Menu 4.3(non +di) without installing any options, like priiloader, cios rev14, default channels.
* if you have uneek kernel on the sd rename related kernel.bin to kernel.unk.
* copy your created sneek to sd and boot it. Configure your emulated sneek wii as usual.
* rename sneek kernel.bin to kernel.msn
* copy kernel.unk to kernel.bin. Copy, not rename. This will restore (and preserve) your uneek kernel
USA system menu:
* rename sd://title/00000001/00000002/content/00000098.app to 00000098.bak
* copy microsneek.app (from distribution) to sd://title/00000001/00000002/content/00000098.app.
PAL system menu:
* rename sd://title/00000001/00000002/content/0000009b.app to 0000009b.bak
* copy microsneek.app (from distribution) to sd://title/00000001/00000002/content/0000009b.app.
OTHER system menu:
* I don't know :P

NOTE:
* microsneek.app is the title loader that replace system menu on sneek emulated nand.
* this is a test release.
* a microuneek can be developed.

so I am same as wever...testing cDI module. But I do have a question. Did I read a few posts back some talk about implementing some sort of disc channel functionality? cDI is becoming very close to awesome and I would love to be able to use it for everything...it is to bad there is no way to implement the ability to utilize the font.bin so that you could see your wii games in postloader while in uneek +cDI......postloader would than make the best menu replacement for uneek.....
(GartimusPrimes pointless thought of the day)

Hi stfour,

Is there a limit to the number of channels supported by PL?

Actually 1024 channels are supported.
A 1024 limitation? Psh, postLoader is pathetic.

LOL

GartimusPrime is said to have more that 800 channels.... dangerously near the limit

I can neither confirm nor deny the above statement......

In spare time, I'm teaching myself on how to do that.

I've locked to joyflow code, the capability to control uneek disk loading can be a great extension to postloader...

you sir.....are the man!

Hi stfour,

Looking forward to investigating this microsneek when I get of bit of time tomorrow! I have an idea which I don't know if you'd care for (or the community in general actually). In light of this revolutionary(!) microsneek functionality I'm wondering if it might be worth moving away from the 'traditional' WiiWare launchers and making PL a little more like the DVD backup launchers out there...

That is to say, how about supporting a SD/USB folder called, say, wiiware which just contains the original Wiiware/VC WAD files? This would be analogous to the wbfs folder used to store DVD images by DVD launchers. The game WADs held could be parsed and listed in your interface exactly as per your current channel display but on launching would be extracted like a WAD manager does (but to the SD) in a format compatible with microsneek and launched. An SD cache could be used to minimise writes too I suppose.

An emu nand would still obviously be used for saved games etc. but this is becoming the norm even with DVD launchers (USB Launcher GX now supports saving to emu NAND for example). It would now just be one NAND to rule them all! The emu NAND becoming a 'build-once' folder to just store Wii admin data like saves, Miis etc. Channels would no longer need extracting to it via ShowMiiWads etc., just drop them in the wiiware folder, rescan in PL and launch via microsneek!

I realise that architecturally this would be a big step but it would revolutionize channel launching - no messing around rebuilding NANDs when new titles acquired, full compatibility, simple filesystem layout.

It's just a thought but a WiiWare/VC launcher being just analogous to a DVD launcher and no messing about on a PC with the WAD files would be awesome.

This is obviously very nice to hear (yeeeeeeey!!!!).

Still, I gotta do a bit of cautioning not to go around implementing things at this point yet. The cDI sources are changing on a daily basis (2 or even 3 beta updates just yesterday), and the work on that is preventing overjoy to keep up with the changes going on in wiiflow. So while joyflow may technically work, it is by design outdated. The changes in wiiflow may not affect it as much (I dunno to which degree that it's code that isn't needed for postloader), but the changes in cDI will certainly have an impact on postloader's capabilities.

In other words: would you please wait for at least a public cDI beta before doing this?

That microsneek thing looks very interesting. Really unfortunate I'm locked in the cDI tests for the moment.

Yes, I admit that the starting idea was really working with wads. But implementing this (even if the process of extracting wad is quite simple and there are so many sources where start from) will take a lot of work from pl2 user interface point of view.

So, simply, I need to understand if it is an interesting approach. With the growing of interest on neek and cDI, this may be a wasted work. I actually prefer "real" world, but things can changes soon.

I am a little involved in the development of cdi as well. If you need some information or something to test, I can provide this.
I am still following the postloader development closely, but I am missing the time to start working with it.

Some things for game launching, like building up the gamelist can already be done, as that shouldn't change much in the future.
We also have implemented a simple way to switch to another nand, in case multiple nands are needed. It can even be done without leaving the uneek environment.
(We are just still missing the application to do it on a fancy way.)

Launching a game the same way neek does it trough it's overlay menu shouldn't be hard to implement either. I think Joyflow used another way to launch it's games, but OverJoy is the guy who knows the details of that.

Playing wad's directly without installing them first will be a more difficult challenge. I have played with wadmanager gui a little so that it could install wad's in uneek. It worked well but it isn't the fastest method of doing things. Games on dvd's know that the stuff they need is on the dvd, while Wiiware games expect things to be on the nand already. So, you will need to install before you play, which is really time consuming. I don't think there is a better solution for that problem. I do know a way to hide installed stuff for the system menu, so that it doesn't slow it down.

I really would appreciate a wiiload feature, as it would allow us to use postloader for easy development in uneek.

Keep up the good work. We appreciate what you are doing. (And hope to contribute when time comes available...)

ProgressiveSwitch v1.2 is out.

ProgressiveSwitch

Changes from v1.1:
  • It's bigger, but that's the price of success
  • Fixed the emu nand bug for realz. It now lets you choose between restarting the Wii or loading the Homebrew Channel/Filter.

My fix for the emu nand bug isn't a perfect solution, but it's the best I could come up with, especially considering my limited attention spa...

Joostin gets distracted by a butterfly and forgets about ProgressiveSwitch.

Aw, snap...sorry. I totally forgot about progressiveswitch. You asked me to test it somewhere, right?

Anyway...I finally got around to actually DO that...and it works just fine (on uneek-nand). Thanks a bunch, man.
