A decent RPG with a huge world to explore without choosing a location on a map. Maybe like Zelda or perhaps a sort of FFX or FFXII style battle system. Also not like Pokemon. And not 3D. Just good old 2D sprites, and a good soundtrack. I wouldn't mind if they were chiptunes.
Also, connectability with others, you can all just explore the same world (Well, as far as your character's abilities can let you go) but you aren't all refined to the same area as everybody else. You can be all the way on the other side of the world than your friends.

And regular updates.

Golden sun 3 or golden sun 1-2 remake with 3d batlle and nicer worldmap and even better sprites.

it's done, the name is Dawn of Sorrow

i mean an actual remake, not a sequal.

besides, that way they can have both games with the same graphics (i dislike them but) and include some of portrait of ruins features... (co op etc.)
although aria probably isnt even old enough for a remake.
