Even worse than the stupid messages: Troubleshooting becomes impossible for those who normally would try. You can't search the web for the problem. You can't ask computer interested family members or friends for help.

Just look at that example from an Android forum:
Some apps on Android suddenly said: "No internet connection." despite the device being online. Browser works. Other apps work. Mobile data connection and WiFi are stable. Now deduct what these apps are hiding… to not scare less technical interested people.
They want to say that the server certificate isn't trusted by the outdated OS.
Expired/Missing Root CA.

D*mn! "No internet connection." is a completely wrong message when the real reason is "I'm not trusting the server, which I can connect to very well."

At least XenForo adds an actual description, but come on, this is ridiculous as well.
