Is it possible to use something like FTPii or Wiixplorer and load new games onto the usb drive over the network? Anything to keep from unhooking the wii usb drive, dragging to the computer, etc, etc.

Should be, but do you REALLY want to spend a few hours waiting for a single game to copy?

The time that it takes you to get your ass off the couch, unhook the drive and transfer it to your computer...well let's just say you wouldn't even get 1% transfer over your network with your typical Wii game.

Wii games are only 5gb, across my wireless that's at worst 10 mins. Drag and drop and go make a sandwich or something.

It's a heck of a lot easier than moving the entertainment center, fishing out the power cord for the usb drive, and the drive itself.

PC to Wii speeds != PC to PC speeds.

IIRC Wii network speeds are capped at 100kbps I actually think I'm confusing Wii wireless speeds for DS ones, but it's still pretty damn slow.

Ahh... That I didn't know. Yea, if it's capped like that, then it's definitely not worth it.

if the switch pretends to be a hub (most likely) thats a NO GO
cios cant handle hubs to connect the drive

if it emulates a cable it might work

    edit:
    speaking about cables
get some usb A-male to A-female cables (Pic)
and tape the ends somewhere appropriate
