That quote was from another g4tv.com blogQUOTE said:With the news hitting last week that Megan Fox and her Mikaela Banes character are out of the picture for the upcoming third Transformers film, we all knew it wouldn't take long for the rumor mills to start churning on who would replace her. And churned, they have. GeekWeek has reported that according to their inside source, Victoria's Secret Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been named the new resident "hot chick" for the Transformers franchise.
Obviously, this story needs to be taken with an extreme grain of salt. It is a rumor, nothing more. However, every now and then, these crazy rumors do actually pan out, so there's no harm in entertaining them. So, what would Rosie Huntington-Whitely bring to Transformers 3?
What's noteworthy about the 23 year-old Brit (whose topless pics arrive as early as page one on a Google search,) is that she has no acting experience to speak of. -- Zip. In fact, as GeekWeek points out, the only connection she seems to have to the entertainment industry at all, is the fact that she's dating action star Jason Statham. Megan Fox's pre-Transformers acting resume looks like Vanessa Redgrave's compared to hers. Yet, you get the sense that in their continuing epic public feud, that director Michael Bay, by casting some unknown beauty with no acting experience to replace Megan Fox, might prove to be the ultimate slight. (Especially if Rosie actually put in a decent performance.)
At the end of the day, we know that the Mikaela Banes character is not coming back. This is not going to be some actress-swap. So, the question of who the new girl will be for Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky is rather pointless, since it really could be anyone. Sure, there's probably a character archetype that will fit well into the formula of the film who will play well against Sam, but this spot is essentially open to just about any hot twenty-something female.

QUOTEThe news that Megan Fox has been released from her role in Transformers 3 is still digesting among the public (and meeting a largely ecstatic reaction.) While the initial news claimed that the removal of Fox was largely the decision of director Michael Bay, whose public feud with her is already the stuff of legends, it wouldn't be interesting if there weren't two sides to this story. Of course, that seems to be the case, as what will surely be an epic PR war of words had also been officially been kicked-off. According to a statement released by Fox's publicist, she wasn't fired -- she quit.
“Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3," reps for the actress, 24, tell PEOPLE. "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.”
However, Deadline's NIkki Finke, who broke the story, is standing by the claim that Paramount and Michael Bay had essentially "kicked her to the curb." Who's right? Who's wrong? Who cares? At the end of the day, this was a classic case of the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. (Whichever one is which.) There's loads that could be discussed in what led up to Megan Fox's removal from the franchise which launched her. (And is still her biggest success.) That discussion however, is probably best left for the tabloids, as frankly I find even my own attention span drifting as I read about it. Also, speculating about which actress should replace her also seems rather pointless since we don't know anything about the new character.
So, let's switch gears here, and get a discussion going! What happens to Transformers without Megan Fox?
First of all, it's easy to dismiss her as easily-replaceable eye-candy. In fact, it was already made clear after Fox was gone, that a new love interest will likely be cast for Shia LaBeouf's character Sam Witwicky. (As opposed to a Katie Holmes/Maggie Gyllenhaal type switcheroo for the same character.) I have a feeling that the vast majority of the sentiment will be along the lines of "good riddance," so by that token, I'll briefly play devil's advocate for the sake of the discussion.
Megan Fox's Mikaela Banes character, was definitely an over-the-top, sexified "guy's girl" -- a living wet dream if there ever was one. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it will be remembered as one of the most iconic outings for hotness in a movie ever. While the first Transformers will be remembered for giant talking robots doing weird stuff (and possibly proliferating racial stereotypes?), it will equally be remembered for Megan Fox's bod. -- It's undeniable. Going into the promotional period for the sequel, we saw more Megan Fox ass shots than we did any images of Autobots or Decepticons. The fact is, Megan Fox's hotness as that character specifically, (for better or worse) may have been just as much of a draw to those films and their monstrous box-office grosses.
However, it was also clear that the juxtaposition with the Transformers franchise may have proved a double-edged sword, as her first major starring platform, Jennifer's Body was one of the most notorious failures of recent years. Considering that the film all but guaranteed more Fox hotness than ever before, and the public in general do still seem fixated on her, I'm thinking that the failure of Jennifer's Body was rooted in the fact that Fox is more tied at the hip to the Transformers franchise than was previously thought. Fans may like the idea of Mikaela, the hottie who kicks butt and tinkers with cars, a lot more than Megan Fox, the (alleged) diva who's difficult to work with. So, it might come down to an issue of the audience wanting the entire package. The question, is whether having any part of that package missing would affect the upcoming third go-round with the Transformers franchise.
