Hello all,
Is there a way I could make a portable NES emulator for Wii as a homebrew app/dol that just plays a single game? No menu's, just boots into a game.
The context for this, is that I've been making a collection of homebrew backup games for my shelf. And want to try and make a backup disc that is just a singular NES game (Specifically SMB1).
I am familiar with writing homebrew applications/games, so perhaps modding FCEUGX?
I know it's pointless, but I like doing dumb little thing's like this.
Any help providable would be greatly appreciated.

It may be worth while looking at /modding punemu
https://gbatemp.net/threads/punemu.269893/

Or you could look to create a forwarder iso that points to an emulator along with arguments to autoboot a specific rom. Modmii is capable of building forwarder dol's /iso's but not one that can autoboot a rom

Try one of my NES emulators which are made as Single ROM Loaders ;)
https://gbatemp.net/threads/my-coll...-for-some-best-wii-homebrew-emulators.591509/

They only work when launched in Homebrew Channel, so if you want to load as a Wii channel, you have to make a DOL forwarder that point to the emulator .dol and read the meta.xml file, by using @XFlak's ModMii tool.
Then you have to insert the new DOL forwarder with @Leathl's CustomizeMii tool, in a WAD which supports AHBPROT. You can get one in this thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/x-flaks-top-wii-channels.205622/

Greetings

See I hate to disappoint because I wasn't very specific.
But the goal is to perhaps find a way to compact this into a single dol, so I can have it on a backup disc. Without the need for installing an emulator (so forwarders are out of the question). I actually did look into some of your single loaders SaulFabre, but I wasn't able to get it working with my my setup (because It would have required an SD card be in the wii, which the point is to get it all on a backup disc)

Basically virtual console but instead of a channel, a wfbs/iso(Which is makeable from a dol)

Now this may be a very far-fetched question, but could it be possible to load the contents of a wad to a wbfs? I know I sound like a 14 year old on google like "wad to wbfs pls halp" but with all the cool things SaulFabre has put together with vc wad injecting (Im not sucking up to you I swear), things like flash games / snes games / n64 games as backup discs, which would be great for people like me wanting to fill up their shelves

Edit: crap I doubleposted, apologies, they were like 3 hours apart

The closest thing to a standalone disc that can do what you ask is PunEmu, at least as far as I know.

BTW, you know that most Wii's cannot read backup discs at all, right? So this solution will be limited to old consoles only that are capable of reading backup discs. Not to mention that read speeds are slower from disc than USB/SD.

Alright, I looked into PunEmu, and I might modify that for my needs, thank you all very much for the help, and if I make any discoveries, I'll probably post something about it.

Thank you all so much for the help

(Responding to XFlak)
Yeah I'm aware, these backup discs are for my shelf running for my old Wii model (If you look at my downloads, there is one of the games I made for my shelf), I just don't want the need to have a homebrew app installed as both an added challenge and in case the files go missing or something. This is all just something I'm trying to throw together for fun.
