Gaming Poll: Nintendo IDs

I'm not in the mood to type out a long-winded paragraph about what I'm doing so I'll shorten it.

Do you think that with the coming of the 3DS, Nintendo will create a more efficient online system away from friend codes, akin to PSN IDs?

If Nintendo listens to their fans, which I believe that they do, there's no way that they haven't heard the about dissatisfaction with the "Friend Code" system.

If they plan to target "Hardcore" gamers like the claim, the "Friend Code" system will never suffice for online play.

Well they have come out publicly and said that they do feel that they dropped the ball on that one, but there's a difference between recognizing and learning from your mistakes

A simple Username or something is enough. Just look at the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Well, from what I've seen from Ninty, you can guess all you want about what they might do (and even have some really good ideas that they SHOULD use), but they'll do something totally different than what anyone thinks. Many times, their "special features" just leave everyone going....

I mean, it's like that tag-mode baloney with the 3DS......there had better be way to turn that garbage off. It's a waste of battery life for the unit to be searching for nearby 3DS's of people you probably don't care about anyway.

Then I guess the real question is whether Nintendo is going to stick with the name "Wii." Looking at their home consoles, they give it a new name each time, but with the success of the Wii, I could see them keeping the name with an added word to differentiate it. Nintendo has stuck to branding it's handheld systems, only changing the hugely successful Gameboy name to the DS. They don't brand their consoles the same, at least in the past, so it will be interesting to see how they carry on their console's name.
