Hi All,

I will briefly start by explaining my situation, I was diagnosed with cancer and treatment was very harsh and after having multiple types of chemotherapy, one which was the worse and destroyed my immune system having to be isolated followed by stem cell transplants to try rebuild my immune system. It has destroyed my body where I am now crippled which is very hard to adjust both physically and mentally.

Not being able to walk vs previously working 15 hour shifts as a carer on my feet constantly. I have decided to try find a hobby to distract my mind from thinking of the bad changes in my life, not being able to work and trying to cope financially having no income coming in.

I decided to start creating Remaster Packs for games, my first retexture pack (which now I am not pleased with) was Evil Dead - Regenerated - SLES-53457 (I plan to return to this game and re do it), now I am currently working on Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence - Remastered (SLES-82042).

My projects are going to be actual remasters, not taking the games default textures and running them through a graphic app to resize times x, or applying filters etc, which I admit I did a little in my Evil Dead pack (hence why I plan on returning to it at some point and do it again).

I have set up a YouTube channel where I will post game progress footage of my remasters, I have also set up a Ko-Fi page where people who like my work could make a donation, which I would really appreciate but my remasters WILL NEVER be locked behind a paywall, my remasters WILL ALWAYS BE FREE (so please DON'T comment with your opinions of being locked behind a paywall, because donations WILL ALWAYS be optional).

I will be personally hosting my PS2 Remasters on my dedicated server, not hosting on free hosting sites where links can die or become unavailable, my links will remain active 99.9% of the time, which if users consider donating, it would help cover hosting costs plus showing a sign of appreciation if you like my remasters.

I will only be working on one game at a time and won't start another game until I have completed the current game.

The point of this post is that I want to engage with the retexture communities and give users a say in what games they would like me to remaster. It isn't limited to just PS2 games, if an emulator has a texture dump/load feature, I would like to offer users the chance to request games that I remaster.

But I am not sure exactly how to go about it. I was thinking if its possible to create like a Poll Post where users can add a suggestion and click to up vote and while I am currently working on remastering a game, users can be voting and when I have finished remastering a game, the next game I remaster will be based on which ever game has received the most votes. Then maybe restart a new poll to receive votes while working on the next game.

Man, that's a sad story. A very good friend of mine had to go through a very similar thing and seeing what this decease does to someone is saddening. I wish you all the best, and I'm sure a creative hobby is the best thing you can do!

on one hand I think I would go through this so I can be here for my kids, I have a boy from a previous relationship which his mother abandoned him, and a girl with my current relationship which she and her family have loved my son as if he was family from being 8 months old.

I was diagnosed with cancer three weeks after having my baby girl, but I am glad to still be here.

But its so hard to manage day to day when your constantly in pain, nothing seems to help and other things start going wrong, crippled not able to do basic thing yet mentally you feel like your trapped inside a broken body not able to do what you previously had no issue doing.

Doing remasters is helping to distract my mind and I spend all day working on it, so in my mind it brings me back to when I used to work 9-5 (before becoming a carer) working as a Web designer, graphic design, sales and IT manager.

And now I am actually dedicating time remastering games, I do feel some kind of achievement regardless if it is an actual job that can help me financially (which is why I have added the option of donating).

I was told the B.E.A.M treatment would be very harsh and would take time to recover, but unfortunately for me it has crippled me and at times it is hard when your mid 30s and have to rely on a wheelchair.

But on the other hand I am glad to still be here, remastering games is helping to distract my mind (also my memory has been affected and can be very forgetful).

What you had to endure sadly sounds very similar to what i could witness with my friend. He needed stem cells transplants as well and was lucky that his brother was a suitable donor. He survived, but still needs time to recover.
I wish you and your kids all the best and that your recovery goes on!

I didn't check your texture packs so far, mainly because i bought the NTSC version of Evil Dead, believing it was censored in PAL regions. But I'm sure there will be texture packs from you for games in my collection in the future, and I'm looking forward to them :)

thanks ohhh the stem cell transplant luckily my own was good enough, they managed to harvest three bags, but ohhh my god that stuff stunk so bad, like crab/fishy my Mrs said she could smell it before she got to my room when she came to visit and my body absolutelystunk of it.

After this pack I would like to open up a community request for the next game and tbf i probably wouldn't bother with my Evil Dead one because I personally think its shit now compared to how I've done MGS 3.
