I've been waiting for the NA region version of pokemon white/black,
and the game if officially out in US today! woot!
...So I got a couple PKMN White (U) from some undisclosed locations,
and I've ran them, deleted ones that are translated from (J), but...

tl;dr how would i know that the rom i'm using is really U, and not E?

I heard that they're exactly the same b/c they're both region free or watever

but I'm not an expert on these matters...

When a rom comes out for (U) gba temp usually gives information about it including a filename and you search for the filename.

I know how to find files. But there are so many fakes files that are actually Europe region or English patched. (that are shown as (U) )

No, you should be able to frolic

,either (U) or (E), with you siblings.

(I think)

But as mentioned before, they are identical in every aspect of the game, it's a region free DSi game, well according to what I've heard.

plus, even if there is any difference, you can start E game then when the U gets released for sure you can just transfer the save file. (so long as it has the same name, if not, re-name it.)

The dead giveaways are:

USA/EUR:

AM/PM Clock as opposed to the 24h one in the (E)
Or/our words are spelled differently.. i.e Color in (U) Colours in (E) etc.

JAP:
The Japanese one's are not 100% translated. and the names are all wrong/unofficial/romaji translated.

The starters should be called Snivy, Tepìg and Oshawott.

That's when a scene release come out. A lot of the time, some individual user upload a rom and gbatemp only get the news a day or two later because it's not uploaded by the scene.

The smugleaf/snivey debate can be taken to the official B/W thread if you feel it must continue.
The topic of this thread has apparently been worrying quite a few people,
so please leave it open for that purpose.
