So, yeah its about 10 years since i played my last pokemon game.
During the GBC days, all i had was five games.
1. 36in1 Cartage that have the Mario included, other 35 were c-r-a-p.
2. Pokemon Red
3. Pokemon Blue
4. Pokemon Green

You should go with either Platinum or Heart Gold or Soul Silver. They can all trade with each other and are all good games.

Stick with HeartGold, or SoulSilver, as every PK game is the same. If you want story, watch the anime. The damn series is seriously about 12 seasons... like 600+ episodes.
