Hacking Pokémon Sun & Moon (Not Ultra) Not loading correctly

I'm currently on GW3D 11.2.0-35U
I input the Up+B+X combo to start a new game on Sun and Moon
and proceed with deleting all saved data...
Then I get a little loading clock icon in the bottom right-hand corner (on both games this happens)
and then it just freezes on the:

Initializing the saved data...
Please do not turn off the power
screen


I ripped the games using Gateway and they came out as:
.3D0
.3D1
I used hjsplit after renaming them to
.001
.002

and I combined them then renamed the extension to .3DS
I still have the original:
.3D0
.3D1
files

Help?

Try installing it instead. You can download a cia file of it and install with FBI.3ds (https://github.com/steveice10/fbi/releases) or get a cia file of freeShop and install that with FBI, and get the game from freeShop.

How do I install FBI? And are cia files, files that install on your SD card? If so that's not what I'm looking to do. I wanna run games right off the microSD card in my Gateway. ANY way to do that? If not, @Quantumcat could you give me more information on how to install FBI onto the 3DS? (I already have it just need to know how to update it, please instructions would help a lot)
I guess I'll have to google for the cia files if I go that route.
