This is just my speculation. If you find it pointless or this speculation making no sense at all, please don't flare me. [/p]

I was playing Platinum just now on my 3DS and I went into the game corner...

Played on a few slots.

Then I suddenly thought of a R/S remake....

Now, how come?

Generation IV Versions
[*]Diamond/Pearl[*]Platinum[*]HeartGold/SoulSilver (a Gold/Silver remake)

If you went to the D/P/Pt game corner before... pay attention to the music.

Now, listen to this:

Nostalgic huh?

But don't these two parts sound a little similar?

Yup, I know this is red/blue version. However, FireRed/LeafGreen are already remakes of the original red/blue. In addition, Kanto is also accessible in Gold/Silver. Hence this might also lead to a clue of the Gold/Silver remake.

Now... (You all know this, already)

They sound very similar too, right?

Hence, I really have a feeling now that Ruby/Sapphire will be remade in Generation V.

Unless Game Freak were to break the pattern...

Well it would seem that its possible, but this is all mere coincidence and speculation. Most Likely gamefreak will make a special version of black and white AKA Pokemon gray. Again this common speculation upon basis but your idea seems possible.

Yes, all speculation. But it seems possible

Knowing the humongous franchise milkers that Game Freak are I wouldnt be surprised

But even if they did remake it it's not like it warrants a remake.

Red/Blue -> Fire Red/Leaf Green were hugh leaps in technology.
Gold/Silver -> Heart Gold/Soul Silver were also hugh leaps in tech.

So with Ruby and Sapphire the only hugh leap I can see is if they turn it almost completely into 3D, not shitty Black/White 3D, but Pokemon Colloseum style 3D.

Why do people even want Gen 3 remakes?

Seriously, they were by far the worst Pokemon games of the main series. They had Red/Blue/Yellow, which basically just established it. Not the most advanced Pokemon games but they were the first and were still fun. Then they had Gold/Silver/Crystal which were absolutely amazing. It took the original design and improved it by so much. Graphics were actually really good, the new Pokemon designs were great, and not only did they give you a whole new region to explore, they brought back the old one for a total of 16 sweet badges. It's hard to top those. Then they made the third generation. They didn't keep two regions, the new character designs were really silly looking (I just think their designs are bad), and it really failed to capture the huge improvement that Gold/Silver/Crystal had.

But I always hear people crying about "WE NEED GEN 3 REMAKES".

WHO CARES!? JESUS MAN WHATS YOUR PROBLEM?!

sorry but this is YOUR opinion not MINE, MINE is that Gen 3 was the best of all! I played Ruby so much I enjoyed it! Crystal was great too but I YES I do preffer Ruby, etc. ABOVE ALL OTHERS.

CLEAR SIR? Let people dream about games your the one destroying them!

And many people would say other then YOU do. Please you state it as a general opinion(in my eyes) but when we get it people are made happy! Isn't that great or so? Do you like sad people?

Everytime when you post Guild you always have to whine about something. I may deserve a warning now but now now I am clean minded.

Holy shit, if you don't want your opinions brought into question, don't post them on the internet. It's a open forum with free discussion provided it stays within forum rules (which I am). If you're able to state your opinion why can't I state mine?

Jesus Christ, don't get into a hissy fit over what happens on the internet.

I'd welcome a Gen V Ruby/Sapphire.... i think it was a good game... maybe not as good as G/C/Y, let alone R/G/B, but still... it was part of my childhood and i'd like to replay it with better graphics, more pokes... they could even add some new things...

Yeah but next time try to state it less ehm(sorry forgotten the word it is similar to normal to everyone that it is everyone's opinion. Global?)

consensus? No offense DL. But I think Guild knows what he's talking about. He's allowed to make an opinion, and even though he generally hates on things most people like, I consider him a true critic for video games

General?

But when I post you should usually know it's my opinion unless I state that it's the opinion of others too.

I would check out the manga, as all of the characters names are the same as each version. Red, blue etc are all characters in the manga.

If there is a new edition of the manga after the Black and White series. If there is a character name Grey, it could be possibly be the new version..

Usually manga is usually ahead of everything... so yeah keep you ear to the ground

Well, I'm not really crazy over gen 3. But I hope for it to be remade cuz gen 3 is when I really first started playing pokemon. I took generation 1 like crap, and flunk the whole gen 2 as well.

Eh? Don't see why this should be such a big issue. They will or they won't [they prob will, but who the eff knows?].

Also, don't see what is so wrong with Gen 3. Sure, it's not G/S/C [what is? c'mon, let's not kid ourselves here]. This was the generation that introduced abilities/natures/weather/double battles/tweaking the EV/IV stuff and some tweaks no one gave a crap about [I hate double battles, though, and understanding EVs and IVs will always be impossible for me]. Gen 2 was itself + Gen1; Gen 3 had to stand by itself and whatever innovations it had, so maybe that's why. I think in terms of pure evolution in gameplay and mechanics, Gen 3 is better than Gen 2[heck, half the mechanics we have now were established/refined in Gen 3].

Not to mention special trainers using POTIONS in battle

"hey lulz Red/Green and Gold/Silver were remade so obviously Ruby/sapphire are next!"

not really.
FireRed/LeafGreen, were completely justified, and everyone was going to love them.
HeartGold/SoulSilver are different. They were completely unnecessary, but the masses were so excited about the idea that it was obvious to anyone that these would sell like candy and break all records.

With R/S/E, this is not the case. Not even half as many would be sold as HGSS regardless of how it would be done.

That's one point.

The second point is that Hoenn pokemon are not unobtainable any more than Kanto Johto or Sinnoh ones are in gen V, not really making it useful in that sense either.

And the third point,
RSE don't look THAT dated.
They are still very enjoyable in GBA format (replayed Emerald a few days ago, fun as ever)
Go try playing Emerald, it's not crap at all.

And yet another thought comes to mind. HGSS could elaborate and build on the lacking story of GS, while Emerald is finished. Note also, Emerald is the complete game, Ruby and Sapphire were just the half told story, without the epic battle and all. Why the heck would anyone remake the two instead of the full one?

Really, no matter what point you view it from, there is no reason to remake RS. Even from gamefreaks side, they would make more money with whatever new game instead of a genIII remake.

HOWEVER.
What could be done, and what I would seriously love to see happen, is a NEW Hoenn game. Playing in Hoenn, but in the same time as Black/White (which is 13 years after RSE). Tons of changes to everything, story focusing on the rest of legends, particularly the Regis (and Regigigas), also having the first Jirachi ingame event, NPCs talking about the hero from 13 years ago etc etc.
Including a subregion and who knows what.
Adjusting movesets, buffing some crappy old pokemon, new egg-moves...
Now that is a different matter.

@marjan1337

I totally see your point. But if they were to not do the R/S remake, it seems that they'll break the chain after all.
tongue.gif

Hmm... 13 years after the original ruby? I disagree with the major legendary focus, but a newer storyline sounds fun. Team Magma and Aqua could merge together? Hoenn would reclaim land so I won't need to do a lot of surfing? Diving for legendaries? Who knows?

Of course, this is plain speculation. But following the chain, a R/S remake really seems likely.

Not really. You obviously missed the point of why they even remade the games in the first place. It's so you can obtain pokemon from previous generations without needing a Game Boy. Now that the DS Lite has been discontinued, it makes perfect sense for them to remake R/S/E as GBA support is dying out.
