Pokemon Ruby berries

Hi,

how do I grow berries in old Pokemon Ruby? I have planted them few months ago and I still didn't get nothing. Do I need to play game certain amount of time or what?

Btw. Battery has been replaced and clock works fine, also I tried to update my game with fire red and emerald to fix berry glitch, everytime I'm getting some sort of error. Probably game has been updated already.

I haven't bothered growing berries in RSE since they first came out, but I'm pretty sure after you plant them you have to water them once every stage they grow.
