Gaming Pokemon Pearl cart issue

My pokemon pearl game card (official) will not read the first time I put it in, it requires either being taken out and put back ion about 8 ish times or putting another game cart in, swithching it on, turning off ds and putting it back in.
I know it isn't my ds as it reads others just fine.

bought & first played on Oct, 25 2007
play time is 128:23
Cheated on (not sure what used, I think it is Pokesav)
lent to friend who blows the cart & ds port is dosen't read (for about 1 month)
anybody know what to do?

quite common for older cartridges.
my sonic rush, mario 64, and need for speed underground 2 all do that.

best is whenever it doesn't load is to reinsert it rapidly a few times since due to the cartridge design it's very tedious to clean the contacts with any other method.

this is actually a problem all cartridge-based game consoles encounter eventually.

Try a very small amount of rubbing alcohol on a qtip to clean out the contacts on a game. Wait a few hours until completely dry and then insert into the machine. Hope it helps!
