Gaming Pokemon: Fish Chaining!

So, we've all discovered that fish chaining in Pokemon X and Y is quite effective! However, there has been a rumor going on around the web saying it's been around for longer Generations! So far, I've chained about 27 on my Black version to test this out. I know it's 40 to make the shinies start appearing! There's just one question, is this rumor true? ~Thanks Tempers

I highly doubt that was anything more than a rumor. if it had always been present then somebody would've noticed the correlation, as that is what led to many people discovering it in these games. probably just some guy got lucky in a coincidence. not to mention if it had always been present nintendo would have no reason to reveal the mechanic now rather than when those games came out

You should also remember that while no one hacked the x&y codes, the other game's data was wide open for anyone who wants to learn it.
