Maybe your windows explorer doesn't show known file extensions. If this is the case and you rename your picture (jpg-file) to boot.jpg it actually is boot.jpg.jpg. So be sure windows explorer shows known file extensions before you rename your *.jpg!

Well yeah, like popopinsel said... if you can't see the file extensions for known types then you just need to rename the relevant files as boot . Even if you can't see, the filename will be like boot.mp3, boot.jpg and so on...

That default setting of file types drive me crazy, so whenever I make a new windows installation the first thing I do is to remove the check for the hiding of those extensions then checking the show hidden files option then checking the show protected operating system files option...

Woah, v3 is totally awesome!
I gonna test out now!

You're completely wrong.
The two files have to be named boot.jpg and boot.mp3. And nothing else.

He isn't wrong, just a bit n00b.
He has to name them just "boot" because his windows hides the extensions.

Naming them boot.jpg would translate to boot.jpg.jpg on his computer.

Well to get effects for the picture (like in the below video)... but probably either in 0.4 or 0.5 I'll fully implement them... If only I had time at my hands...

hadn't been on in some time and wow things have gotten loads better in wii homebrew! O_O
among other things like the gcloader this looks nice just gotta go buy a wii switch the guts out with my broke one and get my money back then try it! >.<
deathnote into is flipping awesome!

so this does now support displaying a video yet like in the youtube video examples?
the readme still only mentions a boot.jpg

Well no it doesn't support video yet... as you can see in the youtube video (death note one) there is some garbled display at the start of the video... that's the main issue along with mplayerwii compiles to size 5.58 MB (preloader doesn't like) which can only be compressed down to 2.68 MB with dollz (preloader accepts)

But actually a single codec like mpeg1 or mpeg2 is sufficient for the video stuff which may not be easy to get... mplayer is a huge beast and afaik there is no other video library ported to the wii at the moment.... I will try to accomplish reducing the video libraries size with a custom compilation of mplayer libs... if I can't do that then may resort to a custom mplayerwii... or maybe something else, dunno...

With that garbled display and with huge (2.68mb) size I don't think it would be release quality...

Hope I can actually work on stuff rather then tripping through ideas

What about compiling-on-the-fly feature? Is there any way to have just a dol-file that's installed in preloader without the need of mp3 and jpg?

That would be a very very nice feature, cause some friends of me don't have a SD-Card (yes, they're cheap).

Once I find or create a default mp3/jpg that I can distribute, that feature will be there along with a pc program to customize it.... though it's not called compiling-on-the-fly but instead let's say theme injection into the dol...
