Please help

I have a nine year old sony xperia play phone that has been dead for a number of years I just bought a new battery for it but I cant get it to turn on boot up or anything. I have my PREGNANCY photos on this phone what can I do please help

We are not really a phone recovery forum but I will run through the basics.

Obvious start. Are the photos on any SD cards that might be in the thing?

Is the battery charged/charging? Batteries do not always come charged and it might take a while for it to get up to level.

Also if it is an old phone is the replacement good? If it is some old stock then... even rechargeable batteries have a shelf life.

Is there a recovery mode boot for the phone (usually something like power and up volume at the same time)? If you can get to that point it can rule out things.

After this we get into actual fun with electronics.

No so card and the battery is charged. Also I have tried to push the vol + and power, vol- and power at the same time. All that will happen is sony Ericsson will show than go off over and over again that's it

That changes things a bit. If it had not livened up at all I would be thinking electrical issues.

Anyway such a thing typically gets called a boot loop.

I tapped in sony xperia play boot loop and a variety of things came up to fix it (some mentioned something called ftf) so it seems like it is a known issue for some models. Do be aware that some types of restoration like this will wipe the phone, some will not -- some just want a working phone where others will want data recovery and be willing to put in some more effort. Check to see beforehand what a given set of steps will do. Most likely the user data will be on a separate partition and this is more concerned with the boot partition but do check anyway.

If you search for your model number and boot loop it will hopefully yield a solution for that one. At that point it should be standard means to grab whatever you like from it (I like FTP rather than messing with USB or SD cards to play it how you will).
