Hello! This is my first time writing something like this, so please bear with me. Also, I'm only 17 with parents who do not know much about this so I would appreciate any input! : )

The other day I modded my switch lite with a new shell. The issue is now it does not turn on. I followed an instructional video after hours of research so I'm sure I did not do anything too bad. Plus this is not my first time putting a shell on something, I did so on a Play Station controller, so I am somewhat experienced.

The real problem is that I do not know what went wrong and why it isn't turning on. The screen lights up and that is about it since it stays a solid black(?), therefore I only know that the battery works and can still hold a charge. I believe the issue lies within the screen or the motherboard.

Would my best bet be to:
    A) Change the shell to the original and send it back to Nintendo for them to repair, even though I'm past warranty. Once Nintendo opens up the switch they would know I tampered with it and the price is an issue since I have no clue what they charge past warranty.

    B) Get a third party to diagnose the issue. The only problem I have with this is the price and I'm scared if I pay for them to fix it and it still does not work.
(This way I would get to keep the mod since I really do like it and I don't really want to give it up)

    C) Buy a new one. This would be my last option if all else fails, but I'm beginning to think this may not be a bad idea. Since I reside in Canada the price for basic things, such as battery replacement is crazy expensive. So if the issue was more complicated, for example, the CPU was damaged I'm 90% sure the cost would be upwards of $150 CAD, in which case it would be cheaper to buy a new switch with my mom's shoppers points because it will be approx $135 CAD after-tax when they have their points cash in the event every once in a while.

The only thing that is stopping is the mod/colour I already have. I know it's a superficial thing to be concerned about but I find it important because I like all my things to match (OCD) and it can sometimes make me really uncomfortable when there are too many differences between my things.

I truly don't know what to do, so if you read through all of this, thank you!! T-T

If I was you I'd tear it down and start again as it could be anything loose cable pinched cable bad contact
Just take your time make sure all cables are secure and undamaged
If all else fails I'd suggest putting the original shell back on and see if it boots

I also had this happen. Luckily for me it was as simple as making sure all connections were put in properly and totally straight. If you find your problem please share so I can learn something potentially new
Edit * on a rebuild today I just faced the same problem, this time not so lucky. The fiddly ffc cable from the digitizer actually bent a pin on the connector. I will try to straighten under a microscope tomorrow but I am not hopeful. I don't know how changeable the whole connection is. Looks like another molex

I think I did. When I go through the steps again to deshell and reshell the switch, I will definitely pay extra attention when I reseat them! Thanks!

Thanks for the input and if I do figure out the issue I'll tell you! It's reassuring to hear I'm not the only person this has happened too. I will for sure look out for the connections and cables. I hope that one of the pins weren't damaged lol. But good luck with pin and I hope you can fix it!
