What if he had reformated the sd card but had the files prier to doing so?

In my case, I had reformatted the sd card and it had bricked but I got it unbricked. Top screen is stretched out still. Do I do the same with decrypt9?

Okay, let me start over. I couldn't get A9LH to work, so I had reformatted the whole 2ds along with the files on the sd card. It bricked and I had used that method on gbatemp to unbrick it and now my top screen is stretched. Is there anyway to fix this process or do I redo the whole thing again? I hope this is more of an explanation...

You're presumably on 2.1 still. You cannot do the same with D9 if you do not have A9LH installed. You MUST install A9LH and then just go back to the 3DS.Guide and follow it. Saying that "I couldnt get A9LH to work" explains nothing, so you'll have to be more specific on that.
