Hacking Please compile Preloader v0.3 source... someone?

wtf don't even TRY to overwrite the preloader dol installed by this one of else you are sooo fail

if you remember, preloader replaces the sysmenu dol, BUT the sysmenu dol is slightly diffrent then a normal dol and needs some modification to the header etc

And the modification is already done by preloader 0.29 installation...I'm not condoning it, just pointing that out.

no wtf you fail, the installer installs a modified preloader dol, the installer doeasnt patch anything so that it can run normal dol's instead of sysmenu dol

sorry i misunderstood your coment. i thought you meant that the system menu dol needed modified header etc., but you meant that the preloader .dol needs them modified before being installed. sorry. i thought you meant that preloader installer modifies system menu dol before moving it, but you didnt. I'm sorry that I "fail", for misunderstanding your poorly worded comment. *facepalm*

besides the header issue, wouldnt a system menu wad with preloader included be better than fstoolbox for installing?

Tried this here and it is not working. Doesnt detect the hacks.ini nor can it save settings or stuff... dunno if its really working...

yeah, it probably would. IN THEORY, if you modified the preloader .dol to have the right entry point and header and stuff, it SHOULD just be a case of downloading a the System Menu with NUSD, renaming the System Menu .dol with a 2 at the start instead of 0 (i think this is what preloader does), then copying the preloader .dol in and renaming it the original system menu .dol's name, then packing it all as a WAD. I think. But there are probably a bunch of reasons why I'm wrong, which someone will probably point out now.

Crediar removed off update server because it was buggy so obviously this is going to be buggy as well. We need a coder to make the installer and fix the bugs.

As stated above, I tested it, it wont install, it wont find hacks.ini, it wont save settings...

In order to get a dol file to boot in place of the system menu you will first need to compile the dol with an entirely different entry point to regular homebrew. I.E. 81000000. You will also need to bind the dol with a loader and set the address for this loader in the dol header, in text section one. As far as I can tell the original preloader (not the installer) up to, and including 0.29, is bound with enough loading code from the official system menu to raise serious concerns with regards to copyright infringement, which is probably why crediar decided not to release details of the installation process. Even when compiled correctly with the appropriate loading code the 0.30 source does not work out of the box and there are several bugs that need to be ironed out.

I'm currently working on a variant preloader based on 0.30, but unless I can develop my own custom loading code or patch the dol on the fly, during the installation process (ripping code from the installed system menu), I will have no choice to bundle it with commercial loading code making the release technically warez.

afaik you have to init the BATs and there is basicly not much freedom to create any custom code since it's also done via ASM and not some high level language.

I sometimes wonder what all this anti-piracy stuff is about anyway, I mean preloader has been on wiibrew for over a year (packed with stolen code from the system menu) yet wiibrew just banned crediar's latest app for a "blatant breach of copyright". Double standards for marcan

yeah, it probably would. nope you need to set up the BAT's in asm its not just changhing 1 byte ..
