People tend to forget for some reason that this could have happened with MS, Nintendo or any other company. This happened to sony because they pissed off hackers by sueing people to avoid homebrew and piracy.

It could have happened to any company. And I doubt just because you have to pay for live that it will be safer.

*Facepalm*

I find this whole PSN hacked thing hilarious

You know, hearing things like "PSN GOT HACKED" is now becoming a common thing like "Insert Person's name, DIED"

OMG JUSTIN BIEBER HACKED THE PSN AGAIN!11!11ONE.

On a serious note, I'm getting fed up. I am REALLY considering just getting an Xbox 360 Slim in summer and using the PS3 just for the single player exclusives and as my media hub...

But yeah, I'm getting annoyed.

People can reset your password by putting in information about you?

Isn't that how the password reset process works?

Exactly. THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY EXPLOIT. I reset my own password by entering the email address and DOB associated with the account. No need for "URL exploit" or anything of the sort.

It's just that normally you need to login into your e-mail account to go to some secret URL and/or to get a reset code, or answer to a secret question to reset a password. In this case, no secret question and no e-mail login.

Anyway, I'm still amazaed about the amount people who complains that their personal data being accessible when most of the people just throw their lifes on Twitter, Facebook, or simply on forums...

Oh, I understand now. When you reset your password, you're emailed an address to go to to reset it, so you'd need access to the email account to reset the password. This would let you do it without access to the email account.

How are you supposed to log in now if you haven't changed your password? I tried to log in several times but the only thing that seems to happen is that it sends an e-mail to the address associated with the account even though I'm trying to sign in with the PS3 that made the account.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Sony's... 4th blunder now, isn't it?

They're going under.

NO ONE is going to download ANY digital content.
well their first blunder was fucking with geohot so I'd say it was their 5th.

well, sony claimed that no one used the exploit, but didn't they claim that the original psn shutdown was due to maintenance only to retract that statement days later? plus, it is true that u get what u pay for. y would anyone think something that was free (psn) was going to be as comparable to something that is not (xbl)? sony must've cut a lot of corners to lower the cost of maintaining their network.

the two reasons sony should be shutdown permanently: invasion of consumers' privacy and failure to protect consumers' information. no company should be allowed to operate in such a manner.

I'm gonna guess you are an XBox owner/Microsoft fanboy. Let me ask you a question: You do realise that if Sony are shut down, Microsoft will have no real competitor? (Nintendo are always a slightly different case IMO) And with no competitor, they are free to drive up prices, and people will have to pay if they want to game. Competition drives down prices. You can stop trolling now, kthanx.
